Dinosaur cake
A dinosaur cake – a cakeosaurus? – for the first birthday of Ellis Hortop. I did one similar a few years ago for the birthday of the director of the Natural History Museum, where Fran works. This one was slightly smaller as we had to get it from London to Cardiff.
I made the cake itself, then made a total hash of the icing, so Fran re-did it properly. Toblerone is ideal for spinal scales, whatever its shortcomings as an actual chocolate bar.
We even managed to find some green food colouring that wasn’t made from a chemical with dubious health side-effects. (This food colouring contains spirulina – an algae; and curcumim – a derivative of the spice tumeric, which is in or the ginger family and can be found labelled as E100).
With some different decoration it probably could have looked like a car, but no matther. It got scoffed in about two minutes flat, so can’t have been bad!
