Aha - a spot of research involving chocolate...I'll let you know if I have any success. This cold weather is marvellous for cooking, the kitchen being the only warm place in the house!

Splendid Mrs T! Vintage mincemeat sounds great.

Muffins recipes do vary so much don't they. I'm looking for a decent chocolate muffin recipe after the last batch I made weren't brilliant (sorry Sue). I did have a good choc/beetroot muffin recipe, but I've mislaid it.

Just made these using half quantities on everything except egg (smallish one) and used runny home-made yogurt instead of buttermilk, and home-made mincemeat from 2008 (vintage stuff). Completely brilliant. I've only just started making muffins and find recipes vary hugely. This one really works - many thanks. Oh, and I cook in a 2 oven Aga - 20 mins on rack on bottom of top oven works a treat.
